Chez Lisha
Lisha Schlaich, Interior Design Consultant
Since I can remember, I have been attracted to pattern and color, art, interiors and unconventional and irreverent beauty. From a very young age I read magazines and pinned tear sheets to bulletin boards to illustrate my own ideas for rooms and environments. My collages were essentially juvenile mood boards. I loved creating and took classes in painting, drawing and mixed media. My ability flourished after being inspired by many talented art instructors including renowned fiber artist, Libby Kowalski, currently the owner of CTD studio in NYC. I studied under her direction until 1994 when I received my Bachelors Degree in Fine Art, with a concentration in Surface and Textile Design.
Shortly following, I began my employment with Polo Ralph Lauren, in New York, NY, as a Design Assistant in the Home Design Studio. Over the next 16 years, I learned from the best. Ralph's ability to inspire, and convey clear lifestyle messages through product and styling was unprecedented. I conceptualized home collections, designed and developed bedding, towels, fabric by-the-yard, wallpaper, rugs, fine china, crystal and silver giftware, and decorative accessories. When I left in early 2012, I was a Vice President in Home Design responsible for tabletop and Ralph Lauren Paint. My career at Ralph Lauren was an unparalleled education. I then accepted the position of Senior Vice President of Design at Croscill-Glenoit-Excell. During my tenure, I was able to broaden my range and design home products for mass-market retail chains.
I have been afforded many unique opportunities and have had the privilege of working alongside the best creative professionals and visionaries in the industry. I have traveled extensively, with exposure to exquisite and diverse interiors and landscapes, fashion, antiques and markets. I have relationships and thus direct access to countless resources, suppliers and vendors both locally and around the world.
Since incorporated in 2009, Chez Lisha has become my passion. I have designed, decorated and installed both residential and commercial spaces for a diverse clientele. My expertise lies in creating color palettes and personalized interiors by selecting fabrics, furniture and finishes that speak to each client's individual needs, lifestyle and taste. I derive great pleasure from working directly with people and ultimately executing a collaborative and inspired design vision.
When not working, traveling, or enjoying time with my family and friends, I can be found researching, cooking, creating, teaching my beloved "mini masters" art classes or crafting my next adventure. I am also a bonafide Francophile, thus the name of my business, and take great pride in my French/Creole heritage.
